As university libraries embrace intelligence and scenarization, display devices have evolved from mere information tools to core elements of spatial design and key enablers of enhanced academic experiences. Recently, the SPECTRUM Arctic Fox Pro Series flexible LED screen was successfully installed on the 3rd floor of the Library at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Nansha Campus). Adopting the P1.5 model (actual pixel pitch: 1.538mm) with a custom size of 10580×1280mm and front maintenance design, it overcomes the challenges of installing on irregular curved surfaces, delivering a tailored visual solution that creates an immersive, tech-enabled space for teaching, reading, and communication.

Overcoming Core Challenges: Irregular Curves + Lightweight Design + Front Maintenance Adaptation
The project faced three critical hurdles: first, the site’s highly irregular curved surface – lacking standard arcs or regular curves, making traditional rigid display modules impossible to fit without gaps or image distortion; second, the client’s explicit demand for a "non-bulky structure" to preserve the library’s quiet, neat aesthetic, avoid excessive structural load, and minimize disruption during installation; third, the library’s compact layout requiring efficient post-installation maintenance, making front maintenance a mandatory requirement.

To address these, we leveraged the Arctic Fox Pro Series’ inherent adaptability (inspired by the arctic fox’s agility in harsh environments) and invested heavily in professional on-site 3D scanning. The team collected point-by-point surface data to generate a millimeter-accurate 3D model. This non-standard radian data became the cornerstone of the custom structural design – enabling seamless curve fitting, ensuring smooth construction, fulfilling the lightweight requirement, and optimizing the front maintenance structure. This ensures post-installation inspections require no access to the screen’s rear, perfectly aligning with the library’s operational needs.
